When it comes to managing borrower data, financial institutions can't afford to take shortcuts, and neither can we.

At Lee & Mason, we've always taken our role as your insurance tracking and risk management partner seriously. But in today's environment, protecting sensitive information requires more than good intentions; it requires serious investment, robust infrastructure, and ongoing vigilance.

That's why, behind the scenes, we've built a data protection ecosystem that rivals the largest players in our industry and far exceeds what many smaller providers can offer.

Built for Protection, Not Convenience

The digital landscape has changed dramatically over the past decade. Cybersecurity threats are more sophisticated. Regulatory expectations are higher. And data privacy standards continue to evolve at record speed.

We've evolved with it and invested heavily in the systems, people, and processes that keep your information safe. Here's what that looks like in practice:

1. A Full-Scale IT & Programming Department

Fifteen years ago, Lee & Mason's technology team consisted of just two people. Today, we have a dedicated IT and programming department whose annual cost approaches the $2 million range, a reflection of how seriously we take security, compliance, and innovation.

This investment ensures:

  • Faster, more secure integrations with your systems
  • Continuous monitoring and improvement of our Intrex™ platform
  • The ability to proactively identify and mitigate potential risks before they ever reach your borrowers.

Let's talk about how Lee & Mason's infrastructure supports your portfolio.

2. Creation of Intrex, Lee & Mason's Proprietary Tracking & Collateral Protection Platform

In 2018, Lee & Mason purchased Specialized Business Software (SBS) with the goal of creating the most intuitive, proprietary collateral protection insurance platform on the market. The SBS team brought decades of insurance tracking experience, and in 2021, we successfully launched Intrex for outsourced tracking clients.

Since then, our in-house development team has continued to enhance the platform, most recently adapting Intrex to support self-reporting clients and fully replacing our legacy MortgageHazard.com system. Today, whether you're outsourcing tracking or managing lender-placed coverage in-house, everything is now powered by a single, unified platform, Intrex.

3. Independent Security Audits - SOC 2 Type II Certified

We undergo a rigorous, independent SOC 2 Type II audit every year, the gold standard for data security in the financial services industry.

This certification verifies that we adhere to strict controls around data confidentiality, system availability, and process integrity. It's a voluntary audit, but we see it as a non-negotiable because your trust demands proof, not promises.

4. Penetration Testing & Vulnerability Scanning

Every year, we partner with external cybersecurity experts to perform penetration testing and vulnerability scans on our systems. We've invested several thousand dollars to ensure that our defenses are tested, validated, and continuously improved.

This kind of testing goes beyond standard IT safeguards. It stimulates real-world cyberattacks to expose and fix vulnerabilities before bad actors can exploit them.

5. Increased E&O Coverage for Added Assurance

With growing real estate exposure and increasing data complexity, we've expanded our Errors & Omissions (E&O) coverage to $7.5 million, up from $2 million just a few years ago. That's another layer of protection for us, for you, and for your borrowers.

To support full transparency and simplify vendor due diligence, we maintain a comprehensive Vendor Management Binder that includes all current policies, certifications, and documentation. It's updated nearly every month and is available to any of our valued clients upon request.

Why It Matters

These investments aren't just about compliance. They're about confidence. Confidence that your borrower data is secure. Confidence that your risk partner is equipped for the modern financial landscape. And confidence that when you work with Lee & Mason, you're backed by infrastructure built to protect, not just perform.

Because in an age where anyone can promise data protection, we're investing to prove it.
